I'm Here and There

Stuff That Interests Me

I’m a son, I’m a father, I’m a geek, I’m a (what rhymes with father)?

I am a thirty-something guy who spent about 12 years working for a telecom company and was laid off June 1, 2009. Rather than fret about finding a new job right away, however, I spent some time at home with my beautiful daughter and learned a thing or two about what to do with my life.

One of the ideas that immediately sprang to mind once I learned that I would be losing my job was to take a serious stab at writing about the things I love: technology, gadgets, music, movies, books, comic books, cooking, a good drink, and anything else non-political that interests me (politics killed my blogging soul last time around and I refuse to do that again); this can all be loosely described as geek culture thus the twgeek moniker. Those of you who know me should recognize my voice in my writing style and subject matter; for those who do not know me too well, I seem to have a reputation for being passionate about the things I love and can talk about them until I am told to move on to something else. Though this is “officially” a blog, I would prefer to think of it as my personal webzine in which I share my thoughts and opinions with you and thereby spur discussion and disseminate knowledge. So please jump in whenever the mood strikes.

My primary goals for this site are to work on my writing style and skills (hopefully learning the art of brevity!) and to evangelize about the stuff I find interesting. This is a labor of love for me; I do not want to look back on my life one day with regret that I did not pursue further developing a talent of mine that has laid dormant and unused for far too long. If this happens to develop into some opportunities then it will be the best decision I ever made; if not, I will still be able to look back fondly at what I did without regret.

I hope you enjoy this tiny corner of the internet and that you will stick around and let other people know about it if you think it is worthy.
